Thankyou for your comments. The lion is called the Maiwand Lion, and is a war memorial in the Forbury Gardens, in Reading. Named after the Battle Maiwand and erected in 1886.

rar, i love lions...mostly becuase of the lion king i guess. the bruegers bagels in my town has currently been somewhat converted into an art gallery and there is an awesome painting of a lion.
